Spotlight on Custom Skids

The pictures below are of a recent Custom Skid that was manufactured by S-K Systems. The following is a brief description of the skid.

Function of Skid

The skid is used to recirculate DI Water/Glycol between six (6) electrical regulating devices and two (2) heat exchangers. The skid uses the DI Water/Glycol to remove heat from the electrical devices and then the heat exchangers put the heat into the air.

Size of the Skid

The skid was built inside an 8’ x 20’ shipping container to ease shipment and provide an enclosure to protect the skid from the weather.

Pumps

The skid used three (3) Goulds 2 x 3 –10, model 3996 pumps in 316 SS construction. Each pump was sized to provide 50% of the flow requirement. Total flow from two pumps is 400 gpm.

Skid Details

The main piping runs are 4”, schedule 10, 316 SS with butt-weld fittings. The skid includes a Deioinizer column to maintain water quality, hydronic expansion tank, DP flow meter, pressure transmitter, temperature transmitter, PLC control, MCC for all pump and fan motors and local temperature and pressure gauges.

Construction Details

The main piping runs were made as spool pieces from the AutoCAD drawings and then assembled in the container.

Testing Details

The unit was run and tested in our facility prior to shipment to the site. A FAT was created and followed for a thorough record of testing.
